About Richard

Richard has been involved in sport since childhood and played rugby to a high level representing his School 1st XV and Manchester University as well as senior clubs such as Sale and Tunbridge Wells. He was attracted to cyclosport after his rugby career and has enjoyed all aspects of cycling from mountain biking to time trials to road cycling. He continues to compete in time trials and many other cycling competitive events and is passionate about progressing cyclosport for others in a way which is inclusive, open and fun for all.

Richard is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and has led teams for over 20 years to deliver complex projects. He has sat on the board of Siemens Rolling Stock and HSBC Rail. He now consults on Rolling Stock projects for the Railway industry.

Richard has a broad depth of skills, knowledge and experience in cycle coaching adults and junior riders. He is the club secretary and coach for London Dynamo Youth & Juniors, a cycle club for riders aged 8-18.

Richard takes a holistic approach to his coaching, by concentrating on four different aspects of a rider’s development: Physiological, Psychological, Tactical and Technical. He believes that these are all pieces of a puzzle that govern the success of an athlete reaching their goals.

Richard trains his clients in Kingston, Richmond Park and in the Surrey region.
